It has been a busy first couple of weeks of harvest at Sainte Rose, but a very satisfying one with 4 out of 6 white varieties picked and the first two red varieties beginning to come in for rosé and red wine.

The grapes have been universally clean and healthy, in spite of the challenging growing conditions early in the season, with an excellent balance of sugars and acidity.

The Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah juice that is destined for sparkling base wines is progressing well through primary fermentation, filling the winery with wonderful aromas, as are the early white varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, full of promise as they develop into wine.

We will be picking Mourvedre for Rosé and Marsanne and Roussanne for still whites next week, keeping a close eye on the weather to ensure we pick at the optimum time.

Do keep an eye on our social media channels for more updates on our harvest as it progresses.
