Outsiders Rocking the Languedoc We are really enjoying being labelled an Outsider!  This is a group that makes being different, cool!  It’s an interesting group that was created by Louise Hurren who is already recognised as one of the Languedoc’s finest ambassadors. Wacky Weather This Spring! The weather this year has provoked much discussion in wine producing areas all over France, from early flowering worries to talk of drought, white grape shortfalls and a very early harvest. In the Languedoc at the beginning of April the vines were about 3 weeks in advance following a period of significant rain (we received 200mls – one third of annual rainfall) and then unseasonably high temperatures.  Vine development is now more like 10-15 days in advance as the temperature then returned to normal levels for the time of year, thus slowing the growth.   The…

The Butterfly Dilemma!

The Butterfly Dilemma! Apparently Domaine de Sainte Rose is the butterfly and moth capital of the Herault!  In a departmental-wide survey conducted by one of our Viticultural suppliers it seems we have the highest number of moths and butterflies in our vineyards than any of the other Domaines involved!  Butterflies and moths are active pollinators and can help maintain controlled plant growth.
